Ash Wednesday – ‘Lenten Observance-Dealing with Sin and All Its Problems’ Fr. Harris, February 22, 2012

Memorable moments from this first Lenten homily:
“Lent is a wonderful time for us to do what King David did.  We need to be honest, we need to confess our sins.  We need to take responsibility for the harm we have done to our neighbor and to our relationship with God.”
And after talking about the guilt and shame and even self-blame of a famous actor, Father offers us healthy ways to deal with such: “The only healthy way… is not to start eating or drinking or to become promiscuous, but to say to God like King David, ‘Create a pure heart in me, Oh, God!’, to ask God for forgiveness and to change our hearts.”
